In the current world context, Navarre will clearly need to develop personal and technologies skills in future-oriented business activities that will facilitate the diversification and flexibility of our economy, in line with all other advanced economies, towards the Knowledge Society.

Given its size and financial capability, Navarre cannot afford to dilute its economic and human efforts; indeed, it needs to carefully plan and administer its investments. Based on a sense of responsibility and rigour, it needs to aim at projects in future activities or sectors in which its companies, scientists and workers have the opportunity to stand out as world leaders and experts.

Navarre’s firm position in certain future sectors will also enable it to strengthen the present bases of our economy and develop – before other regions – comparative advantages that will attract investments and talent. This kind of policy is considered by experts as the best way of preventing and solving the problems that arise as a result of excessive dependence on mature industrial sectors.

To maintain employment we need companies and, by extension, entrepreneurs. The work of the Department will give priority to driving the creation of companies, be they micro-companies, SMEs or large companies, and encouraging entrepreneurs, in the form of company owners, self-employed people, or businessmen in the traditional sense of the word.

SODENA drives the generation of business projects and collaborates with economic and social partners to make the region’s economy as competitive as possible. SODENA works on identifying, promoting and developing business projects for Navarre, and its website has a special section on collaboration in business projects. This section is titled: “Would you like us to participate in your business project?”

Structuring the economy of Navarre in a balanced manner is another of the objectives of SODENA, for which this publicly-owned company has a series of priority sectors. Among them are logistics and telecoms, computer applications, new technologies, renewable energy sources, the environment, biotechnology, and also the area of leisure and tourism.
