Created in 1994 to supply wind turbines to the first windpark in Navarre (El Perdón), Gamesa Eólica is now the second largest company in the world in this sector. 55% of the installed wind energy capacity in Spain is in turbines manufactured by this company. It has its registered offices in Pamplona and 10 manufacturing plants in a number of Spanish regions.
Over the last seven years Gamesa Eólica has had EHN as its initial customer, and it has based its creation and evolution on this. It was set up with a share capital of 1.9 million euros by:
| Gamesa:
|
A company located in Vitoria as an industrial partner |
51% |
| Vestas: |
A Danish company, world leader in wind turbine manufacture, as a technological partner |
40% |
| Sodena: |
Reference partner for EHN |
9%. |
|
At the end of 2001, the company being consolidated, the major shareholder (Gamesa) negotiated the acquisition of its participations with the other two partners (Vestas and SODENA) in two operations for a total sum of 351.5 million euros.
The collaboration and exit of SODENA from Gamesa Eólica is a good example of how the development company intervenes in a business project in the start-up phase. Once its role is over, and always agreed at the time of participation, it then leaves the businessmen and industrial partners to continue with their (consolidated) project.
