Participation of SODENA: 44,23%
SODENA participates in the share capital of ECOENERGÍA NAVARRE S.L., a company set up to develop a purine treatment plant in the town of Artajona. This plant is based on technologies provided by Ecoenergía Sistemas Alternativas through a patent cession contract. The new facility will use the residual heat generated by gas motors to treat pig purines and produce an organic fertiliser.
The shareholder structure of this company is completed by Ecoenergía Integral, S.A. (25%), GHESA Ingeniería y Tecnología, S.A. (15%), Sercapgu, S.L. (15%) and Granja Villanueva, S.A. (1%), which also has a contract to supply purines.
Using innovative technology, the plant provides a solution to the environmental problems associated with purine production, giving the waste product a commercial outlet as organic fertiliser. The process also generates energy through cogeneration. In the plant the purines undergo a process of biodistillation and drying, and are later granulated for sale on the market.
The treatment system of the purines is simple, robust, and innovative, with elements that are commonly used in a number of industry sectors. Its efficiency has been proven in tests made in a pilot plant, which concluded with the successful completion of a continuous operation test of over 200 hours.
The estimated production of fertiliser from the plant, which will depend on the concentration required, is around 6,000 tonnes per annum, with a purine treatment capacity of around 110,000 m3/year. The plant operates continuously throughout the year (both the treatment plant and the cogeneration plant) and only shuts down for maintenance. It is estimated that the plant will operate 8,100 hours/year and, in addition to covering the energy needs of the plant itself, will send 15 MW of electricity to the grid.
The generation of electricity will be done by internal combustion engines that use natural gas as fuel. This has meant the extension of a gas pipeline from Tafalla to Artajona.
