Since Spring 2003 CETENASA appears in the Register of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology as a Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT), with number 76. This inscription represents the full recognition of Fundación CETENASA as a technological centre by the Spanish Government, and also its complete integration into the Science-Technology-Company system.
It is a non-profit-making organisation governed by a Trust in which representatives of twelve institutions and companies are present. Its current President is the Regional Minister of Industry and Technology, Commerce and Employment of the Government of Navarre, José Javier Armendáriz.
Since its constitution in November 1989, CETENASA, now Fundación CETENASA, has promoted the participation of Navarrese companies and entities in the development and strengthening of their competitiveness through scientific and technological research and innovation.
Its main objective is the promotion and development of any areas of scientific research, technological development and encouragement of innovation that are of interest to companies based in Navarre. According to the Managing Director, Xabier Troyas, this recognition -by the Secretary of State for Scientific and Technological Policy, Pedro Morenés Eulate- is "the official confirmation of a widely recognised technological activity that is highly valued by the business sector of Navarre, with several R&D projects and schemes presented in Pamplona, Madrid and Brussels".
