International 'Vive las Verduras' Congress.

Navarre produces tomatoes "without soil" in a slurry plant.

The companies Ecoenergía Navarra, Ecoenergía Sistemas Alternativos and Cultivos de Navarra, inaugurated yesterday in Artajona (Navarre) a new pig-slurry treatment plant that works through electricity cogeneration. It is an innovative project that also produces dry fertiliser, energy and clean distilled water. The process's residual heat is used to grow hydroponic (soil-less) tomatoes in greenhouses.

Institución Futuro, the think tank (or ideas laboratory) set up by entrepreneurs from Navarre, has signed agreements with other British institutes of this type. This collaboration, the result of a visit by the Board of the organisation to London, consists of cooperation in research projects, seminars, conferences and the exchange of publications.

The Government of Navarre, through Sodena, is holding talks with the US Principia Technology Group on the subject of research into nanotechnology. The President of the American company, Henry Smith, is the Director of the Nanostructures Laboratory at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) .

SLAN multiplies its storage capacity five-fold

The new platform of the freezer distribution centre Slan (Sociedad Logística de Alimentación Navarra) in the 'Agustinos' Industrial Estate near Pamplona will enter service on June 1st. A wide variety of fresh and frozen food products will pass through the plant.
